Welcome
On behalf of all of our staff at the Hutchinson Fire Department, I would like to welcome you to our web site. The Hutchinson Fire Department has proudly been protecting the City of Hutchinson and the Rural Fire District since 1884.
The Hutchinson Fire Department is responsible for protecting a 180 square mile area and a population of approximately 18,000 people, including the cities of Hutchinson, Biscay, and Cedar Mills
The Department is a 35 member paid-on-call department with a full time Fire Chief and Fire Inspector. Services provided by our personnel include: fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, first responder EMS services, code enforcement/inspections, fire prevention/education, and fire investigations.
The fire department literally went from the old leather bucket brigade of 125 able bodied men in 1884 to the present group of 28 highly trained, modern equipped force. I would remiss if I did give credit to ALL of those brave souls that went before us, they paved the way, they are the ones that made the personal sacrifices necessary for us to be as successful as we are today.
Our dedication is to the citizens of our fire district.

Finally, our fire department could not exist without the unbelievable financial commitment and support our councils and townships have made over the past 125 years.
We are constantly updating our web site, so please stop by often.
Thank you and have a fire safe day!
