NEW

Effective March 2, 2009, the City of Hutchinson Motor Vehicle Office located in
City Center will be changing our hours of operation as follows:

Monday CLOSED
Tuesday / Wednesday / Friday   9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday*   9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

* Licensing examinations will continue to be offered on Thursdays.

These hours will continue on a trial basis through September 30, 2010, or until further notice.

With the current City budget constraints and the general economic conditions, we feel this solution will have the least impact on our residents and customers. We will continue to provide our customers the most convenience at the lowest cost,

Your Motor Vehicle office is here to serve all your needs in transferring or registering your vehicles; obtaining state photo I. D. and passports; driver's license renewals, written exams and road tests; and DNR licensing.

    Driver's License Exams

    Exams and road tests are administered by the State of Minnesota every Thursday 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Motor Vehicle Office. Appointments are necessary for road tests; please call 1-651-284-1000. Appointments are not necessary for written exams.

    Pet Owner

    The city requires that all dogs be licensed and leashed and that barking be controlled. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Police Department. The Police Department picks up all strays which are then impounded. See the fee schedule below for costs when getting your dog back. If Hutchinson Police Department picks up your dog running loose, there is also an additional fee per day charge to board loose dogs. (Dogs are boarded at Crow River Veterinary Clinic under contract with the City.) Similarly, a cat ordinance controls feline pets.
