FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mayor Forcier Encourages the Use of Masks

Regarding COVID guidelines: While the City of Hutchinson has not adopted any additional measures regarding mask wearing or gatherings within city limits, this does not mean we do not support the mask mandate and other public health guidelines put forth. The guidelines from the state and the Department of Health are extremely important and should be followed. We strongly encourage all residents, businesses and organizations to wear masks when you are with anyone outside your immediate household and to limit gatherings. Mr. Jim Lyons, the President of Hutchinson Health, stated at Tuesday’s council meeting that our local health system is in danger of not being able to treat critical care needs because they are overwhelmed by COVID-19 cases. COVID-19 is spreading at an alarming rate through our community. If we do not follow public health guidelines, we risk not being able to treat things like heart disease, car accidents and other regular medical needs in Hutchinson. Making the situation worse, health systems across the Midwest have critically limited space as well, meaning that there possibly could not be a location nearby to treat a loved one when they are ill or injured. We are asking all members of our community to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by cancelling in person gatherings with those outside your household and by wearing a mask any time you are with people outside your household.
