The City of Hutchinson has been working with local, county and state partners to help protect the health and wellness of both the community and employees during this rapidly changing coronavirus outbreak. The City is moving forward with its Pandemic Response Plan on the delivery of city services while minimizing direct person-to-person contact. The City has closed down City Center to allow the continuing of public services while reducing the potential direct contact with city employees carrying out those services.
To maintain the city’s continuity of business, we ask residents to refer to the following information:

Building and Permitting Department
The City’s Building Department will continue its operations during this time. Residents,
contractors, and those seeking permits or inspections should contact the department at

Burich Ice Arena
Closed until further notice. To contact Arena staff, please call (320) 587-2975.
City Council Meeting
The City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2020 will be held as scheduled.
Creekside Soils will continue normal operations. However, Creekside will not be changing to summer hours on April 1 as they normally would. They will be continuing with their winter hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday and will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays, until further notice. The Hutchinson Fire Department Lobby is currently closed to the public to ensure
Fire Fighter safety.
If you have a fire or medical emergency, call 911. For non-emergency assistance please call
(320) 234‐4211. The Hutchinson Fire and Rescue Department continues to be fully staffed and operating under normal protocols without interruption.
Hutchinson Enterprise Center/EDA
The Enterprise Center is closed to the public. Please feel free to contact EDA staff at (320) 234-4223.
Hutchinson Senior Dining
Closed until further notice.
Effective Monday, March 30, store hours will be changing. Liquor Hutch will be open Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Payment options are changing as well to Debit/Credit Card Only. NO CASH ACCEPTED. Please exercise proper social distancing when visiting the store. Liquor Hutch can be contacted at (320) 587-2762.
Motor Vehicle Department (DMV)
Effective immediately, Hutchinson Motor Vehicle offices will again be processing mail in and drop off motor vehicle transactions. If you are purchasing tabs, please utilize our drop box located in the city center lobby. Please include your pre-bill, insurance information, a check with your DL# and phone number and we will mail your tabs to you. You are also encouraged to mail your pre-bill directly to our office at 111 Hassan St SE, Hutchinson, MN 55350.
There will be no Driver License transactions completed at this time per the Governor’s Stay at Home Order.
The City’s DMV staff will be available to assist you by phone on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 320-234-2599. The DMV can also be reached by email at email@example.com
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Oakland Cemetery office is currently closed to the public. Please use the drop box payments, applications, submittals, etc. Please contact Cemetery staff with questions or concerns by calling: (320) 234-4455. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We look forward to opening offices again as soon as conditions permit.
Until further notice, the Hutchinson City Council has approved the following temporary policy changes to its Utility Billing process, which consists of Water, Sewer, Refuse and Storm Water services:
- No penalties for late payment after the March 27 due date
- Customer water service will not be discontinued due to non-payment
- City staff will work with customers to create payment plans, if necessary, due to the COVID-19 challenges
- City requests that any payments be made either online or by check. Checks can be mailed or dropped in the box outside of city center

The Hutchinson Water Plant is continuing operations, but its facilities are also closed to public
